E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof Batches and release dates:

Colonel EH Taylor Jr Barrel Proof is the big brother in the new-ish Taylor Jr line from Buffalo Trace. Current Bourbon releases also include Colonel EH Taylor Jr Small Batch and Colonel EH Taylor Jr Single Barrel. There’s also a Colonel EH Taylor Jr Rye out there.

So, the idea is we’ve got a barrel proof version of Buffalo Trace’s low rye #1 mash. This should make bourbon afficionados think about George T Stagg, which is also a barrel-proof bourbon from that recipe. The aging process is the main difference. Colonel EH Taylor Jr Barrel Proof is aged an unstated amount, likely around 7-8 years while George T Stagg is almost double that.

     Releases:

    • Batch 1  (2012)        –   134.5-proof (67.25%)
    • Batch 2  (2013)        –   135.4-proof (67.7%)
    • Batch 3  (2014)        –   129.0-proof (64.5%)
    • Batch 4  (2015)        –   127.2-proof (63.6%)
    • Batch 5 (May 2016)  –   127.5-proof (63.75%)
    • Batch 6 (May 2017)  –   128.1-proof (64.05%)
    • Batch 7 (2018)         –   129.7-proof (64.85%)
    • Batch 8 (2019)         –   129.3-proof (64.65%)
    • Batch 9 (2020)         –   130.3-proof (65.15%)
    • Batch 10 (2021)       –   127.3-proof (63.65%)
    • Batch 11 (2022)        -   129.0-proof (64.50%)

Secondary pricing: values for EHTBP as it is known, range from 500-1200 depending on batch. Early batches are much sought after as people try to complete collections from releases back in 2012-2014.  Better reviewed batches/releases also receive premium pricing.

    From the Sazerac website:

As founding father of the modern bourbon industry, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. left an indelible legacy. His dedication to distilling began at the close of the Civil War when he began renovation of the O.F.C. Distillery, today known as Buffalo Trace Distillery. Taylor fought diligently for the Bottled- In –Bond act of 1897,the first far reaching quality control measure ever implemented in the whiskey landscape in America. Taylor was best known for his whiskey – recognized as topmost class. He brought the industry to a new level of integrity and acclaim by implementing innovative whiskey making methods, lobbying for better quality regulation, and creating the first distillery that was a place of beauty and intrigue, welcoming visitors to come see how he made his products. Col. Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. unarguably left his mark on the American Whiskey industry as it is today.
