Review by Frank Rathburn posted by admin. Just a quick review from a small sample - haven't sat down with a large pour over several evenings yet.
Nose: Cayenne spiced caramel, bittersweet chocolate, cooked plantain sweetness. Somewhat weak compared to the palate and finish.
Palate: Sour cherry, bitter cocoa mixed with milk chocolate. There's an elastic quality to the mouthfeel, stretching out like a dense syrup and dropping new flavors along the way.
Finish: Creamy plantain, oak spice, char. Very rich.
I can see why this puts some people off because there's this unusual burnt char note on the palate that I can see putting people off. And if you tend to notice the multivitamin note in Dickel product (I don't) you might get that here too. But I really liked it and am glad to have it. Definitely a special occasion pour.
